Position Overview:
The Director of Major Giving plays a vital role in advancing the mission of The Pines Catholic Camp by building meaningful relationships that inspire generosity and deepen engagement with the joyful, life-changing ministry of The Pines. Rooted in Catholic values and guided by a heart for mission, this position is both strategic and pastoral. This person will serve as a bridge between generous supporters and the past, present, and future campers who encounter Christ, are formed as disciples, and are sent into the world to live the Gospel through their experience at The Pines. The Director of Major Giving will develop and implement comprehensive strategies to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward mid-level and major donors. The ideal candidate will be a joyful ambassador of The Pines, encouraging donors to see how their gifts help to nurture vocations, deepen discipleship, and foster transformational encounters with Christ in the beauty of creation. Reporting to the Director of Marketing & Development, the Director of Major Giving will help ensure the financial sustainability and future growth of The Pines Catholic Camp.Key Responsibilities:
1. Mid-Level and Major Giving Program Management:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy to engage, cultivate, solicit, and steward mid-level and major donors.
- Identify, qualify, and personally manage a portfolio of prospective donors capable of making transformational gifts by fostering ongoing, meaningful relationships through consistent communication and personalized stewardship.
- Develop and oversee donor recognition and acknowledgement programs that reflect our mission and heartfelt gratitude.
- Collaborate with the Director of Marketing & Development and other staff to set and achieve annual and long-term fundraising goals.
2. Donor Relationship Building:
- Nurture strong, mission-aligned relationships with individual, foundation, and corporate donors.
- Coordinate personal outreach through meetings, calls, and donor events.
- Customize engagement and solicitation strategies to reflect each donor’s values, interests, and passions, with an emphasis on the spiritual connection to The Pines’ mission and the impact of the organization on individuals.
3. Donor Database Management:
- Ensure accurate and timely input of all donor activity and giving in the donor database.
- Continually update records of all gifts, pledges, and donor interactions for ongoing accuracy.
- Collaborate with the database administrator to generate reports, analyze donor data, and assess giving trends to inform strategy.
- Work with the development team to align actionable data with fundraising efforts, enhancing the donor experience, retention, and growth.
4. Reporting and Analytics:
- Monitor and evaluate progress toward fundraising goals by conducting donor analysis and assessing return on investment.
- Create detailed reports to regularly update the development team and leadership on donor activities, upcoming prospects, overall giving outcomes, and data-driven insights to inform strategic decisions.
5. Cross-Departmental Collaboration:
- Collaborate with other departments (marketing, programming, and finance) to ensure unified and mission-aligned donor stewardship efforts.
- Partner with the events team to design impactful, on-brand donor experiences that foster and enhance long-term relationships with mid-level and major donors.
6. Staff Leadership and Team Development:
- Provide guidance and insights to staff and volunteers involved in the mid-level and major giving program.
- Equip the Executive Director and Director of Marketing & Development with research, resources, and strategies to deepen donor connections and improve giving outcomes.
7. Additional Expectations:
- Stay informed about current trends in philanthropy, donor relations, and the nonprofit sector to ensure that the organization remains competitive and innovative.
- Assist with special annual fund projects, as needed, in relation to donor relations and major giving.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, business, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in major gifts fundraising, donor relations, or a related development role, preferably in a nonprofit or faith-based environment.
- Skills:
- Deep understanding of Catholic values and the spiritual role of stewardship within nonprofit fundraising.
- Proven success in securing major gifts and managing relationships with high-net-worth donors.
- Proficiency with donor management systems (preferably Bloomerang and QGiv) and data-driven fundraising strategies.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with an ability to prioritize tasks and manage a large, dynamic donor portfolio.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with a gift for sharing our story and mission, inspiring generosity, and building authentic connections.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- High degree of professionalism, integrity, discretion, and attention to detail.
Additional Expectations:
- Personal passion for the Catholic faith and for serving as an ambassador of the mission and ministry of The Pines Catholic Camp.
- Occasional travel may be required for donor meetings and events.
- Flexibility in working hours, including occasional evenings and weekends for donor meetings and events.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Salary: $70,000-75,000 per year + a performance-driven bonus structure

- The office is closed for two weeks for Christmas and the week following summer camp
