- Communicate proactively and responsively with online students to help them succeed in their courses and programs and connect them personally to Franciscan University.
- Collaborate with the CETL team, Student Success, and appropriate vendor partners to ensure online courses as well as all systems used by online students are ADA compliant, including but not limited to functionality, captioned videos, described images, annotated audio files, etc.
- Communicate proactively with faculty members regarding at-risk students and document pertinent communication dealing with specific course-related activities.
- Communicate proactively with the Senior Instructional Designer and Senior Instructional Technologist to ensure the readiness of online courses for our students so that they have the best online experience possible.
- Coordinate with necessary University offices to integrate the students’ entire online experience from application through graduation.
- Provide telephone, in-person, and online support for Canvas and other instructional technology needs of faculty, staff, and students.
- Advocate for online students’ academic needs with faculty and within the Academic Affairs area and across the University.
- 1-2 years of experience providing excellent academic, eLearning, and/or customer support to university students and faculty.
- 1-2 years of experience in working with ADA compliant resources.
- Demonstrated excellence and passion for supporting online students’ academic and technical needs via telephone, web conferencing, chat, and email as well as demonstrated tact and discretion.
- Demonstrated excellence in and passion for using and supporting students and faculty using the Canvas LMS and other eLearning tools in higher education.
- Demonstrated experience and eagerness to create and maintain a vision for online students to engage in Franciscan University’s unique culture and access student support services to become an integral part of the Franciscan family and succeed in their online programs.
- Demonstrated experience and passion for collaborating with and coordinating projects with professionals in various departments across campus as well as external partners.
- Demonstrated dedication to and passion for the Franciscan University mission.
- Interpersonal Skills: Demonstrated collegiality, professionalism, and passion to serve others and to go above and beyond what is required to support the mission and help others learn and succeed.
- Drive for Results: Desire to work and contribute to a fast-paced, small team environment with an eagerness to pitch in wherever and whenever is needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred, but a combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Demonstrated excellence in and passion for using and supporting applications for creating engaging instructional materials including MS Office, Adobe Acrobat Pro, etc., and the ability to quickly learn new applications as needed.
- Typical work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Hours flexible based on departmental and personal needs.
- Occasional evenings or weekends, as required.
