3rd Grade Teacher (Full-Time)

Position Overview: Our Lady of Mount Carmel School seeks a joyful and mission-driven 3rd Grade Teacher to join our faculty full-time. The ideal candidate will foster a love for learning and lead students into deeper wonder about the world through the Catholic intellectual tradition. This teacher will embrace the classical liberal arts model, cultivating habits of attention, imagination, and virtue in a well-ordered classroom environment.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Teach all core subjects for 3rd grade (including Language Arts, Math, Religion,  History, and Science) within a classical Catholic framework.
  • Foster literacy and a love of great books through read-aloud, narration, dictation, and other classical methods.
  • Design lessons that emphasize discovery, beauty, and wonder rather than utilitarian learning.
  • Form students in virtue by modeling Christ-centered behavior and integrating moral and spiritual development into classroom life.
  • Create meaningful assessments aligned with the school’s philosophy: oral and written narration, copywork, recitation, and short compositions.
  • Maintain strong partnerships with parents in the shared mission of forming the child.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in elementary education or related field; advanced degree or coursework in classical education a plus.
  • Practicing Catholic with a deep commitment to the mission of Catholic education.
  • Prior teaching experience preferred; openness to mentorship and ongoing formation essential.
  • Ability to maintain an orderly, joyful classroom conducive to intellectual and moral formation.
