Faith Formation Director

The Director of Faith Formation is a professional catechetical leader responsible for developing, coordinating, administering, and evaluating family faith formation programs to meet the Church of Our Lady of the Angels (OLA) community’s catechetical needs. By supervising and collaborating with the Family Faith Formation (FFF) team (Family Catechesis Coordinator and Youth and Young Adult Minister), the Director ensures that a solid catechetical program is offered to families, youth, and children, while including Franciscan values and by emphasizing the importance of building relationships with families and community members. Responsibilities include creating, implementing, and overseeing the Sacrament Preparation program.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: FAMILY FAITH FORMATION

Supervise and collaborate with the Family Catechesis coordinator in creating and successfully executing Family Catechesis sessions, retreats, and special events.
Oversee and collaborate with Youth and Young Adult Coordinator in providing opportunities for these age groups to continue to be formed in the Word and in relationship with Christ.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: SACRAMENT PREPARATION PROGRAM

Work directly with sacramental preparation programs for children and families. Includes First Reconciliation, Confirmation, and First Eucharist (Restored Order), and RCIA for Children.
Prepare, schedule, and coordinate preparation programs for the sacraments listed above using a family model of catechesis.
Responsible for collecting required paperwork for students preparing to receive any of these sacraments.
Prepare, schedule, and oversee sacrament retreats and workshops.
Collaborate with the Rector and Liturgy Director to prepare liturgies for Reconciliation, Confirmation, and First Eucharist.
Work with the RCIA team and the Youth and Young Adult Minister, create and oversee a program for children aged 7 and above to prepare for full initiation into the Catholic Church (RCIA adapted for Children/Teens).
Collaborate with the RCIA team, Rector, and Liturgy Director in planning and executing Easter Vigil initiation of prepared children/teens.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Serve as a member of the Franciscan Renewal Center staff. Attend all staff meetings, department head meetings, FFF meetings, and any additional events or meetings assigned by the Rector.
Work with specialized committees, such as strategic planning to help create and implement an ongoing vision of catechesis for the Casa.
Prepare and administer the operating budget of the FFF department according to church policies.
Monitor and approve all expenditures and timesheets for the FFF team.
Work collaboratively with Communications Director ensuring effective communication for all parish family faith formation programs.
Working with the FFF team, invite, motivate, and train volunteers to assist as responsible leaders for various aspects of the total program.
Responsible for Safe Environment compliance of FFF staff and volunteers.
Participate in diocesan networks of professional peers for the good of the community.
Additional responsibilities as assigned by Rector.

Ability to work in collaboration and relationship with church staff, volunteers, families, and community.
Ability to motivate, lead, mentor, and evaluate Youth and Young Adult Minister, Family Catechesis Coordinator.
Relate in a friendly, competent, and confidential manner with all persons encountered within this ministry.
Ability to listen to and understand family needs and create programs/solutions to meet those needs. This includes not being afraid to work “outside the box” to meet needs and evangelize.
Ability to meet families where they are in their spiritual journey without judgment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Theology, Religious Education, or related field preferred.
Three years of ministry experience related to Faith Formation in a parish setting, including administering a parish program, supervising, and developing staff.
A Practicing Catholic in good standing and fully committed to the Mission of the Catholic Church.
Must have a dynamic personality and be passionate, energized, and excited about Family Faith Formation and Evangelization.
Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills.
Strong organizational and self-starter skills.
Flexibility and availability to work evening and weekend hours when necessary.
Strong commitment to the Franciscan Renewal Center mission and a willingness to participate in ongoing formation in Franciscan Spirituality.
