Facilities Manager
Job Summary:
The Facilities Manager is responsible for maintaining the campus structures, systems, equipment, and grounds. The Facilities Manager performs and supervises HVAC, electrical, plumbing, security, environmental, safety, custodial, event coordination, and preventive maintenance tasks. The position reports to the Principal and Business Manager. This position operates under some supervision with latitude for the use of independent judgment and initiative.
Essential Job Duties:
Support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic ministry and the mission of San Juan Diego Catholic School in both professional and personal life. Act as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church. Continuously grow in ministry by participating in religious ceremonies, training sessions, and reflection activities as directed.
Manage all and/or perform work related to maintenance on campus, ensuring to meet code requirements while remaining in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
Maintain accurate records of all maintenance repairs and school inventory list. Ensure a comprehensive preventative maintenance program is in place.
Manage annual facility budget. Obtain bids for repairs and maintenance. Supervise contractors and vendors.
Manage the facility work order system. Ensure timely setup, take down, custodian services, and cleaning on campus.
Served as primary contact for audio-visual systems, security, and alarm systems.
Recruit, lead and work with volunteers to help assist and complete some maintenance tasks.
Keep updated on the Emergency Action Plan. Works with the Principal to oversee safety protocols and security systems on campus.
Participate in special projects such as Master Planning, facilities development, and redevelopment.
Maintains all school grounds, including mowing, edging, weeding, and debris cleanup
Maintains availability throughout the week to serve the needs of the school, including the principal, staff, and volunteers during and outside of normal school office hours.
Ability to transport students to and from school events or job sites.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
General knowledge of large facility systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, etc.).
Knowledge of standard practices, materials, tools, power equipment, and terminology of building trades.
Knowledge of general cleaning practices with household-type chemicals and equipment.
Ability to provide excellent customer service and work effectively with staff, students, and volunteers.
Ability to read labels, use cleaning chemicals safely, follow safety protocols, and use the appropriate tools for each task.
Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.
Ability to operate various word-processing software, spreadsheets, and database programs.
Ability to work independently at a fast pace, have attention to detail, and perform repetitive jobs.
Ability to lift and carry at least 50 pounds.
Ability to communicate proficiently in English (writing, reading, and conversing). Bilingual (English/Spanish writing, reading, and conversing) preferred.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education and Trainings:
High School Diploma or GED acceptable to Texas Education Agency.
Experience:
At least five (1) years of grounds and maintenance experience for large facilities.
Language:
English (proficient in writing, reading, and conversing).
Licenses/Certifications:
Valid Texas driver’s license.
Must maintain compliance with the Diocese of Austin Ethics and Integrity in Ministry (EIM) policies throughout the employment period.
Working Conditions:
All school employees are engaged in ministry and closely tied to the Principal in the exercise of ministry and obligations to the church.
The School is an at-will employer.
All buildings and vehicles owned by the Diocese are tobacco free.
Working in a fast paced environment with priorities and plans that may change rapidly.
Working on weekends, evenings and some holidays will be required.
Will be exposed to religious ceremonies, conduct, and speech, including Catholic Christian prayer and liturgical celebrations.
Will be required to adhere to established dress codes and conduct standards.
Will be required to use personal vehicle to drive off-site locations.
