Development Director
Description:
The Development Director fulfills the mission of the Catholic school by planning, guiding, and evaluating the development efforts of the school in fundraising, marketing, event planning, grant writing, communication, alumni affairs and public relations. The Development Director has decision making responsibilities within essential job functions, in keeping with school policies. The position is hired and evaluated by the principal.
Duties:
Supports and upholds the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of the school Acts as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church Supports and adheres to the Code of Conduct and policies and procedures of the school and Diocese
Maintains confidentiality regarding school matters
Plans the overall development program in keeping with school needs, the Strategic Plan and budget objectives Collaborates effectively with the principal, Development Committee, school associations, committee chairs and volunteers
Oversee Development staff in a manner that ensures effective and efficient practices, and customer-focused work habits
Ensures effective work practices in financial accounting and reconciliation, database management, gift recording, donor acknowledgement and stewardship
Maintain records on current and prospective donors
Ensures that practices are in compliance with school, Diocesan, city, county and state regulations
Communicates effectively with the faculty and staff and keeps them informed of upcoming development activities Meet staff development guidelines as set forth by the Diocese/local administration
Demonstrates professionalism in conduct, demeanor, and work habits
Collaborates with others to enhance the work environment
Conferences with others upon request and responds to messages in a timely manner
Demonstrates gains in development goals and objectives that are in keeping with the Strategic plan and budget objectives, and a willingness to respond to program needs
Plans and implements a comprehensive marketing plan that supports the school mission and is aligned with enrollment goals and strategies.
Serves as a member of the Endowment Committee as requested Attends and participates as needed in faculty meetings as well as professional and community organizations

Knowledge of the basic teachings of the Catholic Church

Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree
Experience:
A minimum of two years development, alumni relations. or related field.
Proven, measurable track record of successful interactions with prospective donors or clients.
Proven, measurable track record of successful experience in acquiring major gifts.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collegial, team-oriented unit.
Experience organizing events.
Experience researching, writing, and presenting comprehensive fundraising proposals to prospective individual, corporate, or foundation donors.
Superior interpersonal, writing, and speaking skills.
Demonstrated ability to think strategically and creatively, work well under pressure, and effectively manage details of several concurrent projects.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with minimal supervision.
Excellent professional demeanor.
Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality.
Must submit an Ethics and Integrity in Ministry (EIM) Application for Ministry within the first week of employment, participate in an EIM Basic abuse prevention training workshop within 60 days of submitting a complete Application for Ministry, and maintain EIM compliance during the entire term of employment.
