Athletic Director/Head Football Coach

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides guidance, support, and direction for each school sports program
  • Schedules and allocates time for field, court, track, weight room, locker room, and other athletic facilities
  • Coordinates officials, referees, ad empires for competition
  • Mediates disputes between coaches, students, parents
  • Works with school administrator to ensure compliance with TAPPS regulations, other governing agencies, and school and  diocesan protocols
  • Creates and cultivates an environment whereby young women and men can participate in competitive sports in an atmosphere of teamwork, cooperation, and competitive spirit
  • Fosters a prayer life in the lives of young athletes and promotes respect for others
  • Serves as a role model
  • Implements and monitors the Diocesan Safe Environment protocol for all coaches, volunteer coaches, and student athletes for all sports programs
  • Checks periodically the athletic facilities for the safety of all students
  • Serves and maintains athletic equipment for safe and reliable competition
  • Serves as a liaison to colleges and university athletic programs
  • The AD will evaluate each coach in collaboration with the principal
  • The AD will hold all coaches and volunteer coaches accountable for behavior and conduct consistent with the teaching of the Catholic Church, on campus and otherwise, at all times
  • The AD will participate in ongoing professional development and training with experienced ADs serving Catholic schools

  • Knowledge and legal liability
  • Public Relations
  • Staffing and Personnel and Management

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, Sports Medicine, or Kinesiology
  • Experience in coaching and mentoring high school students
  • The AD may be required to teach 2-3 instructional classes each day

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Submit to employment required screening, criminal background and drug screening
  • Complete certification in Safe Environment training provided by the Office of Safe Environment and Child and Family Resources
  • Position requires adherence to all diocesan policies and procedures
