· Bachelor’s Degree in music or related field (MA preferred)
· Must be a devout Catholic
· Experience with liturgical music in a parish setting

· Commitment to assisting the faithful to grow in understanding and appreciation for the Sacred Liturgy and the true role of sacred music according to the traditions and teaching of the Church.

The formal responsibilities are below, but here’s a snapshot:

We believe Incarnation Catholic Church is the best of both worlds when it comes to parish life! We incorporate Latin, (but would love to do more chant & polyphony), have adoration every day, 1st Saturday devotion, Corpus Christi processions, reverent liturgies, & mostly organ during Mass with some piano. But we also love praise & worship Holy Hours, incorporate prayerful contemporary worship songs in the Mass, and are a very joyful, warm community. Whether traditional or contemporary, we would like prayerful pieces with sound Theology. We currently have a choir, children’s choir, professional cantors, a regular cellist, and a beautiful grand piano. We have been printing a weekly worship aid in the bulletin, so you would not be bound to one source for music.

· Selects music for all liturgical activities and accompanies, preferably with organ or piano

· Recruits, trains, and rehearses cantors, musicians and choir members, both adult and youth

· Prepares and is responsible for music budget

· Coordinates music and normally acts as accompanist for funerals and weddings

· Teaches new music including Gregorian chant, polyphony, traditional hymns, and contemporary worship songs, according to Church liturgical guidelines and norms

· Continues own personal growth and learning in the area of sacred music, and creates new ways to implement that learning within the parish. For example, introducing the use of Antiphons or explaining the reasons for the change of music during Lent.

· Demonstrates a passion for and love of the Church’s history and wealth of sacred music and works to instill that in the music ministers and parish community

· Works with staff to coordinate liturgy and rehearsal schedules, bulletin music pages and announcements, publicity, etc.

· Maintains organized and updated music files

· Provides accurate copyright information and coordinates all financial responsibilities

· Organizes and maintains all equipment used by musicians, including but not limited to organ, piano, microphones, stands, sound system

· Performs any other music-related duties as directed by the Pastor
