- Responsible for the coordination and supervision of all custodial services in areas of primary responsibility.
- Hiring, scheduling, organizing training, directing, supervising, and evaluating student workers for all custodial work in assigned buildings.
- Ensure both safe work practices and high levels of custodial care in each facility.
- Become familiar with and ensure all custodial equipment is maintained and in good, serviceable condition.
- Responsible for the implementation and management of custodial policies and procedures. Supervises all student custodial personnel in their jurisdiction. Responsible for the student workers’ skills and safety training.
- Conduct daily building inspections, provide daily supervision and interaction with student workers.
- Become familiar with TMA software and work requests, maintain communication with customers, work with various people, offices, or departments to resolve problems or complaints related to custodial services within your area of responsibility.
- Ability to hire, organize, schedule and direct work assignments for up to 30 workers.
- Must have working knowledge of computers and hand-held devices. Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
- Knows and demonstrates techniques of using custodial tools and ability to perform minor repairs to custodial equipment. Must have knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment.
- Ability to work effectively in a busy, service-oriented environment subject to frequently changing priorities.
- Understand and be fully supportive of the mission of Franciscan University.
- Be detail-oriented to ensure that conditions in assigned buildings are clean, safe, and up to Custodial Manager standards.
- Be proactive versus reactive and encourage your student workers to conduct themselves similarly.
- Have relevant experience of custodial work.
- Proven leadership ability.
- Knowledge of cleaning methods and associated materials, chemicals & equipment.
- High school diploma.
- Maintain a valid driver’s license and be insurable under the University’s auto insurance policy.
- Strength and dexterity to perform duties and responsibilities of the job. Perform heavy lifting, transport equipment and labor to various sights. Must be able to walk, climb ladders, work from heights, and stand for long periods of time.
- Occasionally work in confined spaces and those that will require bending, stooping, and kneeling.
- Must be able to tolerate inclement weather.
