Job Description

The Holy Family Catholic Church Assistant Director of Youth Ministry is responsible for the development, coordination, and execution of programs designed to build a vibrant youth community at HFCC. The position performs a wide variety of activities to direct and coordinate a strong faith-filled youth ministry aimed at helping middle school and high school students grow as disciples of Jesus Christ. The Asst. DYM coordinates with other staff, leadership and parents, ensuring that efforts are transparent, aligned with and nurtures the culture and intentions of Church teachings and parish priorities. The Asst. DYM acts with integrity and the highest degree of hospitality and professionalism, demonstrating collaboration and energy in serving others in the HFCC community. The Asst. DYM works closely with and under the supervision of the Director of Youth Ministry & Faith Formation.

Essential Functions:

Evangelization and Community-Building

Manages aspects of youth ministry programs designed to encourage middle school and high school youth into a deeper relationship with Jesus, ensuring alignment with the Diocesan Office of Youth Ministry.
Collaborating with other staff members, facilitates the development of community among young people, their families, the parish and the local community.
Plans events and activities specifically designed to recruit new youth – both inside and outside the parish – into the programs.
Effectively and creatively provides communications to youth, the parish community, and parents regarding activities and events through use of appropriate communication platforms.
Effectively and creatively provides communication in collaboration with other office staff.

Provides opportunities for youth including retreats, service opportunities, mission trips, WorkCamp, and community-building activities that foster a culture among youth of evangelization and discipleship, coordinating all aspects of the events including communications and volunteers.
Coordinates the recruitment and support of volunteers in the youth ministry program
Represents the needs of youth to the pastor, other staff members and the parish community as appropriate.

Administration

Develops and maintains records and information pertinent to youth ministry such as membership lists, resource materials, event information, budget, program expense/income, etc.
Develops long-range plans and sets goals for youth ministry programs, annually reviewing and evaluating actual results with desired goals.
Establishes proactive processes to ensure the safety of all youth and that all diocesan guidelines for protection and safety of youth are followed.

cultures.

Working knowledge of social media platforms
Ability to make a solid connection with the youth and parents of HFCC
Strong organizational and time management skills, and ability to prioritize.
Collaborative, helpful and open-minded spirit.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Experience working in a fast-paced, multiple priority setting.
Strong and positive problem-solving skills.
Proficiency with MS Office and Google products
Fluency in English and Spanish preferred.

Background & Education:

1-3+ Years of past experience with youth ministry preferred.
Ability to demonstrate a thorough understanding of the ministerial exception

Physical Requirements:

Employees should be able to meet the physical and mental demands of all the aforesaid key tasks, skills, and attributes. Such requirements include, but are not limited to, the frequent lifting or moving of up to ten (10) pounds and the occasional lifting or moving of up to twenty-five (25) pounds; frequent sitting and the occasional demands of driving long distances.
