St. Joseph the Just School for Boys is hiring for the 2025-26 school year for the following positions:
- Humanities Instructor
- Latin Instructor
- Practical Arts Instructor
- STEM Instructor
The ideal candidate will have expertise in the subject area and a related degree. He will have 2-3 years teaching experience or experience with young people. He will have a love and understanding of single-sex Catholic education. He will model Christian virtue both in and out of the classroom. He will have strong and effective communication skills in order to be part of a collaborative community of educators who will foster a Christian community environment within the classroom and with the school community at large. He will have an appreciation for the education of the “whole person” in the sense that each subject area contributes to the overall formation of the student. Humanities Instructor: The Humanities Instructor will hold a Bachelor’s degree and will have a love for Western Civilization. He will be a flexible member of a team of teachers dedicated to providing a 7-12 Catholic liberal arts education to boys. He will teach a variety of courses that may include Literature, History, Religion and possibly Latin. He will implement plans that align with the school’s curriculum aligned with classical Catholic pedagogy. He will plan and execute school field trips and participate in faculty meetings and other ad hoc events.
Latin Instructor: The Latin Instructor will teach one or two levels of Latin. He will offer differentiated instruction to meet the varying strengths of the student body. He will have experience with various Classical and Christian works and will be able to help the students grow both in their love of the language and ability to grasp the beauty of the Latin language as a core part of Western Civilization. He will be part of a collegial team of educators and will be asked to attend faculty meetings and ad hoc events as they relate to the cultural life of the school community.
Practical Arts Instructor: The Practical Arts Instructor will plan and execute lessons and projects for the students to develop such skills as carpentry, orienteering, animal husbandry and other skills necessary to a well-rounded education. This person will help the boys to develop both the physical skill and knowledge necessary to learn to use their hands and various tools to build and create. The ideal candidate will have an understanding of how this instruction is an integral part of a classical Catholic liberal arts education and will draw from STEM classes as well as Humanities classes. Previous projects have included post and beam building, carpentry projects such as building shelves, building fences, butchering pigs, orienteering, and more.
STEM Instructor: The STEM Instructor will hold a Bachelor of Science degree and will have a love for his subject matter. He will have strong communication skills and will be able to clearly explain complex concepts to his students. He will understand the importance of math and science as an integral part of classical education. He will be able to differentiate instruction as appropriate according to the skills of the students in order to help them succeed. He will be a flexible member of a collaborative team of teachers and administrators. He will be able to create lab courses for his students to prepare them for college admissions, and ensure that these classes are conducted in a safe manner.
St. Joseph the Just is a 7-12 classical school in Front Royal, VA serving Catholic boys. It is part of the Divinum Auxilium family of schools that also includes Divinum Auxilium Academy (PreK - 6th grades) and St. Edith Stein School for Girls (grades 7-12).
