- Provide a welcoming community centered on Christ.
- Promote spiritual maturity, intellectual formation, and education in the rich teachings and history of the Church and the Saints.
- Facilitate the integration of a Catholic worldview and values into the lives of campus ministry students.
- Inspire lives of prayer, service, and devotion to the Lord through adherence to the Church and her teachings, participation in the sacramental life, and walking side by side in a joyful community.
- Exercises a ‘ministry of presence,’ by being available on campus at least 40 hours per week and maintaining posted office hours based on student schedules.
- Determines effective ways to work with Campus Chaplain in service to students.
- Oversees the Campus Ministry buildings, ensuring they are maintained properly and available for programming and liturgy
- Provides support and training to the Student Leadership Team in topics such as spiritual formation, leadership, programming, budgeting, and fundraising.
- Oversees and/or facilitates campus-based OCIA and Confirmation preparation programs in collaboration with local pastor.
- Establishes/maintains relationships with Vocations Office of the diocese, as well as with offices of the institution, especially the Office of Student Affairs.
- Researches, designs, markets, and implements programming that appeals to students - e.g., faith formation, retreats, Bible studies, small groups, service projects and community building activities.
- Helps students resolve personal issues and refers them to professionals when necessary.
- Represents the Campus Ministry Office at institution meetings.
- Keeps current on young adult issues and trends to maintain relevance in programming and marketing
- Establishes a triage protocol with the institution to ensure the Campus Minister can be reached in the event of student emergencies during off-campus hours.
- Pre-authorizes/tracks expenditures to ensure spending remains within budget limits.
- Submits monthly reimbursements/bills to the diocese for payment and record keeping.
- Must be a practicing Catholic who is active in their faith, devoted to prayer, and passionate about living a joy-filled Catholic life.
- Bachelor’s degree in pastoral ministry, theology, religious studies, or closely related field required. Master’s Degree preferred.
- Comprehensive knowledge of and appreciation for the teachings and the structure of the Roman Catholic Church.
- Experience working with young adults in a campus and/or parish setting.
- Experience in program design, facilitation, and implementation.
- Experience in managing a budget.
- Experience in strategic planning.
- Experience in counseling and/or spiritual direction (preferred).
- Familiarity with and ability to apply Catholic principles and teachings in an academic setting.
- Ability to effectively communicate - speaking, writing, and especially listening.
- Proficiency in social media platforms and graphic design programs, e.g., Instagram, TikTok, and Canva.
- Fluency in languages in addition to English. (preferred)
- Must satisfactorily complete the required criminal background and reference checks.
- Must complete require Diocese-sponsored Safe Environment Training within 30 days or hire.
