Civil Engineer – Project Manager I

Najars Engineering is a fast-growing, Santee, CA-based company, and we are looking for a Staff/Lead Engineer to join our team. This position is responsible for the development and implementation of engineering solutions for our customers.

Job Duties:

• Establish and maintain strong and positive working relationships with clients, public agency personnel and in-house professional peers.
• Manage project scope, schedule, and budget.
• Assist in fee proposal development, change orders, contract amendments, and changes to scope.
• Participate in interviews.
• Assist in staff performance evaluations.
• Communicate project requirements to team members.
• Supervision of project design, including daily assignments of work, review of work, and quality control.
• Prepare grading and public improvement plans from conceptual design to entitlements to final construction documents to permitting.
• Prepare technical reports/studies of project deliverables.
• Signing and stamping plans/drawings and technical reports.
• Technical expertise in multi-disciplined design team.
• Planning, organizing, tasking, and controlling project activities, including but not limited to, reviewing, and supervising technical aspects of work and defining the project scope, budget, and schedule.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Mentoring and training staff and serving as a resource to less experienced staff members.
• Coordinate staff resources with the principal of the company.
• Excellent time management skills.
• Demonstration of leadership skills and leadership potential

The ideal candidate will have the following:

• Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited college (ABET)
• Professional Engineer (PE) License in the State of California
• 3-5 years of project management experience
• 8-10 years of engineering experience
• Civil 3D: 5 years
