- Responsible for the coordination and supervision of all custodial services in educational office buildings with backup coverage of all other buildings on campus.
- Hiring, scheduling, organizing training, directing, supervising, working with and evaluating student workers for all custodial work in assigned buildings.
- Ensure safe work practices and a high level of custodial care in each facility.
- Responsible for the implementation and management of custodial policies and procedures. Supervises all student custodial personnel in their jurisdiction. Responsible for the student’s skill and safety training.
- Maintain all custodial equipment in good condition.
- Conduct daily campus and building inspections and provide daily supervision and interaction with the student workers.
- Work with various persons. Offices or departments to resolve problems or complaints related to custodial services.

- Associate degree and experience in positions of leadership and supervision is desired.
- Must be of strong moral character, fully supportive of the University; exceptional management abilities are required.
- Should have excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
- Must have working knowledge of computers and hand held devices.
- Must have knowledge of cleaning methods, materials and equipment, have a good record of custodial work experience and a keen sense of workplace safety.
- Demonstrated effectiveness of supervisory skills with an ability to direct and secure the cooperation of the custodial student staff.
- Knows and demonstrates techniques of using custodial tools and ability to perform minor repairs to custodial equipment. Mechanical aptitude is necessary.
- Ability to work effectively in a busy, service oriented environment subject to frequently changing priorities.
- Demonstrated high level of organizational skill.
Essential Functions:
- Hire, organize, schedule and direct work assignments for up to 30 student workers. Provide effective leadership in the supervising, training and evaluating of the work force. Exercise skill in using tact and diplomacy at all times.
- Ensure that conditions in assigned buildings are clean, safe and up to campus standards.
- Conduct classroom type and on the job training for all student workers under his or her jurisdiction.
- Establish and maintain good relations with building occupants, guests, subordinates, peers and management personnel.
- Ensure that adequate supplies are on hand in each work area.
- Strength and dexterity to perform the duties and responsibilities of this job. Be in good physical condition to be able to: perform heavy lifting, transport equipment and labor materials to various sites. Occasionally work in confined spaces and those which will require bending, stooping and kneeling. Must be able to walk, climb ladders and work from heights. Must be able to stand for long periods. Must be able to withstand inclement weather.
- Continually update knowledge through appropriate courses, publications, etc.
- Understand and be fully supportive of the Mission of the University.
- Maintain a valid driver’s license and be insurable under the University’s auto insurance policy. Be physically capable of driving a vehicle.
