POSITION SUMMARY,

Franciscan University’s Director of Audiovisual Production will be responsible for the conception and execution of both large and small on-campus events. This role demands a keen ability to align audio and visual elements seamlessly with the content delivered onstage. The Director oversees the production of major live events, cultivating and leading production teams to deliver exceptional audiovisual support throughout the academic year and summer conferences.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Audiovisual Excellence: Create, manage, and direct production teams during conferences and events on campus. Develop operating model for campus A/V requests, scheduling, staffing, and collaboration with various departments across campus. Monitor event landscape to be aware of new technologies and trends.
  • Student Development: Train, schedule, manage, and develop student workers in audiovisual production. Develop a Comm Arts internship model to provide field experience for students and reduce labor costs related to outsourced production teams.
  • Campus Collaboration: Champion communication across University’s divisions and departments to cultivate integration, clarity, and consistency around expectations and execution of all campus events requiring A/V resources and production.
  • Resource Stewardship: Anticipate, forecast, and plan both long and short-term A/V equipment needs. Create sourcing plan to reduce equipment rental and outsourcing expenses within budget constraints. Develop and manage on-site A/V equipment inventory, including maintenance and repair. Prevent inventory loss by ensuring post-event recovery and storage of equipment. Craft an equipment exchange/trade-in succession plan.

  • 5-7 years’ experience in directing high-level audio engineering and video production

  • Proven ability to evaluate and manage high-end equipment and related budgeting
  • Experience in educating, training, managing, and empowering employees

 

Workplace Factors

  • Extensive hours when overseeing events, which can include weekends and evenings.
  • Travel requirements as needed.
  • Physical demands of transporting and setting up heavy equipment.
