Position Summary:

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Director of Faith Formation to lead our religious education program at St. John XXIII Parish. The Director of Faith Formation will be responsible for developing and implementing programs and initiatives that promote a strong and vibrant faith community. Working closely with the pastor and other parish staff, the Director of Faith Formation will engage people of all ages in faith formation opportunities that help deepen their relationship with God.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan, coordinate, and oversee all aspects of the Religious Education programs for children, youth, and adults.

• Develop a comprehensive curriculum that is in line with Catholic doctrine and the teachings of the Church.

• Organize and supervise catechists, volunteers, and other staff members involved in religious education programs.

• Collaborate with the pastor and other parish staff to create and promote opportunities for faith formation, including retreats, workshops, and other events.

• Provide guidance and support to families, helping them to nurture and grow in their Catholic faith.

• Work with parish leadership to identify and address areas of need within the faith community.

• Maintain excellent communication with parents, parishioners, and volunteers to keep them informed about programs and events.

• Oversee the sacramental preparation for First Reconciliation, First Communion, and Confirmation.

• Recruit, train, and empower volunteers to assist with various aspects of faith formation.

• Manage the faith formation budget and ensure fiscal responsibility in all aspects of the program.

Qualifications:

• Must be an active and faithful member of the Catholic Church, with a strong commitment to the teachings of the faith.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Religious Education, Theology, or a related field.

• A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a parish faith formation role. If degrees are in other fields certification may be required as directed by the Pastor.

• Strong leadership and organizational skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with others.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant computer programs.

Special Requirements

  • Fully initiated and participating member of the Roman Catholic Faith community
  • Possess excellent planning, project management, organizational skills with noted results
  • Knowledgeable of a variety of catechetical models and works to be inclusive of families in implementation within the parish setting.
  • Ability to build relationships with co-workers and be part of a team environment. This also includes building relationships with parents and families and recognizing and supporting parents as first catechists.
  • Computer literacy, especially the use of social media and online learning.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends on a regular basis to support the needs of the program.
  • Will not be satisfied with the status quo but always forward looking and be open to new and better ways to share the faith and engage others.
