Holy Family Parish is the only Catholic Church located in and serving the community of Stow, OH. We as a parish are focused upon encountering Jesus Christ, being a welcoming home for individuals and families, Eucharistic Worship, and inspiring saints. Stow, OH is the 3rd largest populated city in Summit County, with a median age of 41 years old. We are grateful for our community, which includes young families to those who have worshiped here for multiple generations, some since the founding of the parish in 1946.
Since our beginning, Holy Family Parish has been a vital and dynamic Catholic presence in Stow, Ohio, helping families grow in their relationship with the Lord. We have been blessed over the years with generous parishioners, dedicated priests, and committed teachers and staff who strive to help each other grow in holiness and serve the spiritual needs of our parishioners and larger community. Through ongoing discernment and pastoral planning, we are hopeful that our parish may contribute to strengthening the larger Catholic community in the Diocese of Cleveland. We also desire a growing evangelical response from our parish to assist the mission of Jesus Christ in the world today.
The Director of Music Ministry is responsible for serving the liturgical and sacramental encounters of our parish. They will create an environment that celebrates the beauty of the Church’s liturgical and musical heritage by serving at weekend Masses, Weddings, Funerals, Holy Hours of Eucharistic Adoration, school liturgies, and other liturgical events.
The Director of Music Ministry will:
- Prepare for all liturgical celebrations throughout the Church year and will be a member of the parish staff
- Recruit, coordinate, and direct choirs: traditional, contemporary, handbell, schola, and funeral choirs.
- Promote and maintain a cantor program, including training and practice.
- Hire and schedule accompanying musicians.
- Be present at staff, liturgical planning, and other relevant meetings.
- Have a knowledge and command of technology, especially services that provide music programs and desktop publishing programs.
- Maintain appropriate copyright licensing.
- Provide for maintenance of parish musical instruments.
- Provide for maintenance of church sound system.
- Prepare and manage the budget for parish music programs.
- Be in compliance with the Safe Environment policies mandated by the Diocese of Cleveland.
- Be available for other duties as assigned by the Pastor and Director of Parish Life.
The Director of Music Ministry will have:
- A deep understanding of the Catholic faith as well as a commitment to living that faith authentically in his or her own life.
- A degree or equivalent certification in a musical discipline.
- Proficiency in playing piano and organ. Playing additional musical instruments is most welcomed and desired.
- Vocal proficiency. and the ability to train others in this.
- Relevant professional or ministerial experience.
- Experience leading volunteer singers or musicians in liturgical settings.
- Knowledge of the Church’s liturgical calendar, our sacred music heritage, and administering in a parochial setting.
- A pastoral approach when interacting with others.
Work and Physical Expectations:
- Flexible availability including weekdays, weekends, and evenings.
- Need to be able to sing and perform musical instruments for extended periods of time.
- Work is performed in an office environment as well as in the church.
