Job Title: Director of Youth Ministry and Evangelization

Classification:  Full Time

Salary Range: 37k-50k Salary

Reports to: Pastor

FLSA Status: Exempt   

SUMMARY:  This is a full time, exempt, position responsible for the organization and implementation of the religious education program for grades 7 through 12, including sacramental preparation for Confirmation. Oversight of the youth ministry program also falls within the bounds of this position including but not limited to Youth Group, Youth Trips, and assisting with paperwork and other heavy administrative duties of the DRE. The Director of Youth Ministry reports directly to the Pastor.  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:   80% Program(s) Administration   (15%) A. Religious Education Program Grade 7-12

  1. Recruits and assists in training catechists and CORE team
  2. Schedules class times
  3. Order textbooks and other materials for classes and workshops
  4. Supervises evening religion programs
  5. Schedule and oversee all Youth Ministry events including but not limited to Steubenville
  6. Ensure all Diocesan and Parish guidelines are followed

  (15%) B. Sacramental Preparation – Confirmation

  1. Schedules and Coordinates meetings for sacramental preparation of Confirmation
  2. Plan annual retreats
  3. Recruits and trains team members
  1. Order materials as necessary
  2. Ensure all Diocesan and Parish guidelines are followed

  (50%) D. Youth Ministry

  1. Oversee the development of a comprehensive youth ministry

program for the three parishes.

  1. Host weekly youth group meetings during the school year and Summer.
  2. Host Youth Ministry events such as Open Gyms etc.. regularly give the youth things to do.
  3. Ensure all Diocesan and Parish guidelines are followed
  4. Support Tri-Parish Youth Council and its members as necessary
  5. Provide in-services to youth ministry team

  10% Human Resources

  1. Meets with Education Committee and other committees as needed
  2. Offers annual staff development in-service program
  3. Conduct yearly performance evaluations of staff with the DRE

  10% Finances

  1. Prepares annual budget for Faith Formation and Youth Group program
  2. Coordinate registration and collection of fees for faith formation
  3. program
  4. Prepares and administers BEET Grants
  5. Ensure bills are processed in a timely manner
  6. Sets fundraiser goals and facilitates fundraising activities for future events.

  SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:  This position directly supervises interns and occasionally one office assistant. Supervisory responsibilities are to be carried out in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.   EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:  College undergraduate degree in religious education, administration or related field. Experience teaching parish religion classes; other volunteer and/or teaching experience are desirable. Prefered volunteer work either in the Catholic Church or Youth Programs.   OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Understanding of basic office procedures.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Must be able to work well with others.
  • Must be able to maintain a high level of confidentiality; church business must not be discussed outside the office or with others.
  • Participate in Diocesan professional development training, workshops and leadership days.
  • Must be a Catholic in good standing with the Church.
  • Be fun, energetic, and lively; matching or exceeding the normal energy of youth.
  • Flexible schedule including late nights and weekends
