Job Description:
Most Precious Blood Catholic School is seeking a full-time Elementary Level Physical Education (P.E.) Teacher. The P.E. teacher ensures the physical education curriculum promotes a physically active lifestyle; develops cooperation, teamwork, and sportsmanship; and provides ample opportunity for students to engage in regular physical activity that promotes normal growth and development.
The applicant must have:
- Four-year degree in organized sports and athletics
- State certification preferred.
- Must possess ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, parents, and the public
Responsibilities:
- Teaches knowledge and skills in physical fitness, health education, and individual, team sports, utilizing curriculum and other appropriate learning activities.
- Instructs students in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures.
- Analyzes, demonstrates, and explains basic skills, knowledge and strategies of formal sports, games, and fundamentals of body movement.
- Supervises students in out of classroom activities during the assigned working day.
- Evaluates each student’s growth in physical skills, knowledge, and contribution in team sports.
- Maintains control of storage and use of school property
- Provides appropriate safety instruction and makes safety checks on equipment and field areas to ensure the overall safety of students.
- Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior to provide an orderly, productive environment in the physical education areas.
Skills:
- Ability to teach P.E. and have good classroom/gym management
- Ability to teach all necessary athletic skills in P.E. classes
- Possess excellent team building skills
- Ability to manage and maintain discipline
- Willingness to work as a team player
- Communicate with Administration for all sports related activities
- To maintain safety and security for all students
Additional Requirements:
- Valid Driver’s License
- Submit to employment required screenings, criminal background, and drug screening
- Certified in Safe Environment training provided by the Office of Safe Environment and Child and Family Resources
- Position requires adherence to diocesan policies and procedures
