Salary Range: $56,000-$63,000
Schedule: Full-time; Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., some off-hours and weekends, as needed

POSITION SUMMARY
The Head Athletic Trainer is responsible for managing and directing all aspects of the athletic training program, including supervising, and providing care for student-athletes competing in Franciscan University’s Athletic Programs which includes 19 NCAA DIII teams and Men’s Rugby as a varsity sport. The Head Athletic Trainer is responsible for the prevention, evaluation, and rehabilitation of injuries within the University’s comprehensive athletic training program. This is a senior leadership position within the Franciscan University Athletic Department.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Directs, organizes, and administers the Athletic Training Program
- Directs, instructs, and supervises the activities of two other full-time Athletic Trainers
- Prevention and evaluation of athletic injuries and illness
- Professional development of Athletic Trainers
- Directs and administers the provisions of athletic training services, including the prevention, care and rehabilitation of athletic injuries of several intercollege athletic teams
- Creates and develops and implements therapeutic intervention and rehabilitative protocols to treat athletic injuries
- Provides first aid and emergency aid for athletic-related injuries and determines appropriate medical referral as warranted
- Management of the Athletic Training budget purchases, inventories, and monitors all supplies and equipment for the Athletic Training Department
- Works with physicians and other allied health professionals to coordinate and deliver quality care to student-athletes
- Coordinates all athletic injury insurance maintained by the University
- Ensures the Athletic Department staff maintains First-Aid, CPR and AED certification
- Responsible for implementation and rehearsal of health and safety best practices
- The candidate will be required to participate in developing an exercise science major and teach class(es) as part of the curriculum. An additional stipend will be provided for teaching duties

Technical Skills
- Familiarity with the NCAA DIII governing body and the ability to adhere to all policies and rules and regulations of the NCAA and Franciscan University
- Provide qualified and adequate athletic training coverage for Student-Athletes
- Able to maintain accurate medical records in accordance with the government and athletic conference regulations Presidents Athletic Conference (PAC)
Non-Technical Skills & Competencies
- Manage multiple tasks in a demanding environment, organize work effectively, conceptualize and prioritize objectives and exercise independent judgment based on an understanding of organizational policies and activities.
- Communication ability to clearly articulate ideas and information to coaches and staff

- Adaptability – adjusting to circumstances and new situations and changes; handling unexpected changes
- Act as a senior leader in the Athletic Department, implementing and working within a defined chain of command
- Maintaining and understanding boundaries with coaches and student-athletes.
Education and Experience
- 4+ years minimum of collegiate athletic training experience will be given priority
- Bachelor’s degree in athletic training or equivalent from CAATE accredited school required.
Certifications & Licenses
- National Athletic Training Association (NATA) certification
- State of Ohio Athletic Training Licensure
