Date: June 19, 2024 Position Available: Head Track and Field Coach / Associate Head Coach of Cross Country Position Reports to: Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Department: Athletics FLSA Status: Exempt Schedule: Full-Time Please apply online: Franciscan University Staff Positions POSITION SUMMARY The Head Track and Field Coach and Associate Head Coach of Cross Country is responsible for the development, maintenance, and advancement of an effective and competitive NCAA Division III Men’s and Women’s Track and Field and Cross Country program consistent with the Franciscan University Athletic Department mission of forming disciples, developing leaders, and pursuing excellence. The recruitment and formation of quality student-athletes in this program is integral to the position. The Head Coach / Associate Head Coach is responsible for all aspects relating to the program to include the ongoing, holistic development of the student-athletes in a Christ-centered environment. The successful candidate will have a chance to transition over time into the position of Head Cross Country Coach, with oversight of both programs. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee the Men’s and Women’s Track and Field Program and serve as Associate Head Coach for the Cross Country Program.
- Plan and execute challenging practices and training programs including team events and individual athlete instruction.
- Promote the academic development of each student-athlete and a team culture of academic excellence.
- Promote the spiritual development of each student-athlete and ensure a team culture where the Catholic Faith and Christian moral principles are integrated into the daily activities and program.
- Develop and implement a strategic recruiting plan and maintain roster size.
- Maintain allotted budget.
- Engage in fundraising activities and coordinate with Athletic Leadership team on Fundraising for the Track program.
- Follow and comply with all relevant NCAA & PAC conference rules and regulations and communications with the prospective student athletes in accordance with the NCAA regulations visits with admissions office.
- Coordinate and implement community service activities for the Track and Cross Country teams.
- Supervision of the assistant coaches and Graduate Assistants.
- Coordinate with Athletic Staff and other University departments on logistical issues such as scheduling team travel, Field & Venue Scheduling/maintenance and gameday preparation.
- The successful candidate will have secondary duties assigned by the Athletic Director and/or Direct report.

- Demonstrate effective coaching skill, knowledge of coaching tactics in the development of the student-athlete and the ability to promote a positive culture.

Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent
- Master’s degree is preferred
- A minimum of 3-4 years of coaching experience at an NCAA program is desired
- Knowledge of or aptitude to learn NCAA and DIII rules
- Demonstrate professional behavior while operating with integrity
Certifications & Licenses:
- CPR / First Aid

- Work with the AAD for Transportation to coordinate travel and capability/willingness to drive a 12-passenger van
- Understand the basic set up and take down of equipment
- Tracking of equipment and inventory
- Paperwork/Schedules turned in a timely manner, and able to register Student-Athletes into each meet in a timely manner
