Saint Augustine School, a private and independent 4K-12 grade school with a Traditional Catholic philosophy and a Classical Liberal Arts curriculum, is seeking a full time Humanities teacher to provide instruction to middle school and high school students. A Bachelor’s degree, preferably in education or willingness to work toward teacher certification, is required.
The candidate will have an interest in literature, grammar and composition, American and World History, and a willingness to share this with students utilizing a variety of teaching methods. The ideal candidate will have the ability to listen well and interact effectively with students, parents, colleagues, and Saint Augustine School board members.
As the Humanities coursework combines the study of history and literature, including an emphasis on the development of writing skills, the ideal candidate will focus upon teaching students how to analyze literature, evaluate historical sources and texts, develop strong writing and critical thinking skills, and expand their understanding of vocabulary. This individual will be willing to engage in discussion and conference with student and parents on a regular basis. Professional behavior, including sound judgment, discretion and integrity is a must.
