POSITION SUMMARY

The Leadership Gift Officer (LGO) responsibilities are to identify, qualify, cultivate, ask and steward a portfolio of current and future donors who are capable of making a leadership gift >$10K or a planned gift ads defined by the University. The LGO works collaboratively with colleagues at Franciscan University and represents all of Franciscan University’s programs while working with alumni, parents, friends, staff and faculty in helping them focus on matching each of their interests with the appropriate gift opportunities.

 

Performance will be largely measured by the degree of success in securing leadership gift commitments.

 

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Implement prospecting plan/strategy to build and expand a leadership and futureplanned giving portfolio.
  2. Identify, cultivate and ask Franciscan University constituents who are capable of making a leadership gift to the University.
  3. Develop, create and present leadership gift proposals for consideration according to the benefactor’s interest, financial situation, and the University’s giving priorities.
  4. Initiate and maintain (Steward) relationships centered on conversion with current and specific benefactors.
  5. Collaborate with employees of the University in order to identify University needs, to create proposals, to formulate proposal strategies and identify potential benefactors.
  6. Develop and monitor annual strategy to market and promote leadership giving and future planned giving opportunities with the help of the Director for Leadership and Planned Giving specifically for leadership gifts as well as annuities, estate gifts, etc.
  7. Help Support the planning, preparation, and execution planned giving events (Workshops, Virtual Presentations) in support of Advancement Department goals.

REQUIREMENTS

Must believe, promote and have a strong commitment to the mission of Franciscan University of Steubenville and possess the following:

 

Work Experience

  • Believes, promotes and has a strong commitment to the mission of Franciscan University.
  • 3-5 years of fundraising, including major solicitations, sales, or related experience with a proven track record of success

Education/Credentials

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree desired.

 

Technical Skills

  • Working knowledge of Raiser’s Edge software systems is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.

 

Workplace Factors

  • Extensive travel required.
  • Some evenings and weekends are required, driven by events and benefactor availability.
