Job Description:  Preschool Instructional Aide

Job Summary:

St. Theresa Catholic School is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Preschool Instructional Aide to join our team. The ideal candidate will assist the lead teacher in creating a nurturing and stimulating environment for preschool-aged children. This role requires patience, creativity, and a passion for early childhood education.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the lead teacher in implementing developmentally appropriate curriculum and activities for preschool students.
  • Support individualized learning by providing one-on-one and small group instruction as directed by the lead teacher.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment where all students feel valued and supported.
  • Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment conducive to learning.
  • Assist with classroom management and behavior guidance, promoting positive behavior and conflict resolution skills.
  • Supervise and engage children during indoor and outdoor playtime, ensuring their safety at all times.
  • Assist with meal times, bathroom breaks, and other daily routines as needed.
  • Collaborate with the lead teacher and other staff members to assess student progress and address individual needs.
  • Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding student progress, behavior, and any concerns that may arise.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills in early childhood education.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; some college coursework in early childhood education or a related field preferred.
  • Previous experience working with preschool-aged children in a classroom setting preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact and collaborate positively with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Patience, flexibility, and a genuine passion for working with young children.
  • Ability to follow directions and work effectively as part of a team.
  • CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
  • Must pass background check and meet all state licensing requirements for working in a childcare setting.
