Receptionist – For Cristo Rey Catholic Church

Job Summary:

The Receptionist is responsible for attending to visitors and dealing with inquiries on the phone and face to face from the public. In addition, supplies information to the general public, parishioners and vendors. Maintains the Priest schedule and the Facilities Calendar. Attends to Sacramental inquiries and special Mass celebrations.

Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment while consistently maintaining a cheerful, positive, professional attitude on the phone and in person. Must be a quick learner that is able to follow directions accurately while multi-tasking and still be able to produce an excellent work product with a smile. Must be a self-starter who is organized and detailed oriented. Must be a team player with a “can do” attitude.

Must have reliable transportation and be committed to being at work Monday-Friday until 7pm.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Create an atmosphere of hospitality in the office and maintain reception area.
Greet parishioners and visitors and professionally assist them.
Answer phone inquiries
Register families for Baptism classes
Schedule Mass intentions
Manage facilities calendar
Sort mail and notify various departments of deliveries
Maintain a supply of church publications for distribution to the public, including the parish bulletin.
Provide general clerical and administrative support to other departments as necessary.
Administrative assistance to the Pastor
Other related tasks as assigned
Required Skills/Abilities:

Knowledge of the structure and basic teachings of the Roman Catholic Church.
Ability to operate various word-processing software, spreadsheets, database programs and social media.
Ability to provide excellent customer service and work effectively with staff, clergy, religious and laity.
Ability to organize, prioritize and utilize effective time management techniques.
Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.
Ability to carry out multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
Must have good written and verbal communications skills.
Education and Experience:

A high School diploma or GED is required for this position.
Four to three (4-3) years of full-time wage-earning related work experience is required.
Proficiency in English and Spanish are REQUIRED
Valid Texas driver’s license
May be required to lift, move or carry objects- up to 30 pounds
Must maintain compliance with the Diocese of Austin Ethics and Integrity in Ministry (EIM) policies throughout the employment period.
