Date:  April 26, 2024 Position Available:  Social Media and Email Coordinator Position Reports to:  Director, Digital Marketing Department:  Marketing and Communications FLSA Status:  Exempt Schedule:  Full Time – M-F, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.   Please apply online:  Franciscan University Staff Positions   POSITION SUMMARY The Social Media and Email Coordinator manages the Franciscan University’s social media channels to engage prospective students, current students, parents, alumni, benefactors, and more by creating content and messaging, curating news, and managing published content relevant to each audience. This role also coordinates email marketing efforts to our alumni, benefactor, conference, and admissions databases for weekly marketing/engagement emails and fundraising emails (for both ongoing financial support and special campaigns) to support the mission of the University. This role is responsible for planning, executing, analyzing, and optimizing email campaigns to these distinct audiences while maintaining clean email lists and email marketing best practices.   PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serves as the voice of Franciscan University on various social media platforms, creating and delivering a social media strategy and content calendar that provides an online marketing presence with relevant/tailored content to targeted, segmented, audiences, utilizing specific channels while also engaging in an online dialogue, responding to queries, concerns, and direct mentions.
  • Works with the digital marketing team to oversee the development and scheduling of email and social media campaigns in conjunction with University-wide promotional efforts. Creates and optimizes content for multiple digital channels as needed to support email marketing campaigns (i.e.: Advancement Campaigns, Faith & Reason, Admissions Engagement, Fr. Dave’s special projects). Responsible for creating distinct branding of our emails to each audience for distinct look and feel.
  • Day-to-day management of emails campaigns including leading design and copy reviews, testing, segmenting audiences, scheduling deliveries, and reporting on results.
  • Generates and maintains clean email marketing lists (adding people, segmenting lists, managing unsubscribes, etc.) while maintaining compliance with CAN-SPAM Act and relevant email marketing laws and regulations.

REQUIREMENTS Must understand, support, and embrace the mission of Franciscan University of Steubenville and possess the following:   Work Experience

  • 1-2 years’ work experience in marketing or related field or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Experience with scheduling and posting to brand/institutional social media platforms or accounts with large public followings.
  • Excellent writing skills for web (social media captions, subject lines, strong calls to action, etc.) with experience in writing for social media or email channels using appropriate conventions and voice preferred for each channel/platform.
  • Demonstrated experience working with email marketing and marketing automation platforms (Mailchimp, Marketo, Marketing Cloud, etc.)
  • Experience with A/B testing, data analysis and reporting or ability to think strategically and optimize work based on data analytics.
  • Familiarity or working knowledge of Salesforce or other comparable CRM software.

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, iterate swiftly, and juggle multiple projects in a high-volume, fast-paced environment. Excellent project management skills are necessary.
  • Knowledgeable on social media and email marketing best practices, technologies, and innovative trends with an eye in particular to what other Universities and Catholic organizations are doing.
  • Displays initiative, is alert for and quick to seize opportunities to raise skills and/or contribution to the University and actively seeks out ways to practice and continually improve the required skills or knowledge.
  • Exceptional attention to detail – including editing, proofreading, grammar, spelling, and punctuation skills.
  • Firm understanding of CAN-SPAM Act and relevant email marketing laws, regulations, and best practices.
  • Subject matter expert in email marketing; Coaches others and shares best practices across the institution.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities.

  Education/Credentials

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business or a related field.

  Technical Skills

  • Experience using Mailchimp, Marketing Cloud, or other major email marketing platform.
  • Experience using Sprout Social or another social media scheduling and listening platform; awareness of current trends and audiences on major social media platforms.
  • Intermediate skills in Adobe Photoshop, Canva, or other photo-video editing/graphic design software or apps.
  • Basic knowledge of HTML/CSS a plus.
  • Knowledge of Google Analytics and tracking email landing pages utilizing UTM codes.

  Workplace Factors:

  • Some evening and weekend hours required.
