POSITION SUMMARY
The Visual Designer will contribute in a broad manner to the University’s online marketing and communications efforts by creating and applying a universal brand family digital style guide. The Visual Designer will assist in creating assets which will accompany all digital marketing efforts across all platforms (from email to social media). Additionally, the visual designer will provide support for the various University brands. This will be exercised in the form of web content editing, conceptual framework design, and other web collaboration needs across all stages of website development.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Create user-centered mockups of websites, advertisements, or mobile app features with Adobe XD or similar software. Work within brand guidelines to create layouts that reinforce a brand’s voice through its visual touchpoints.
2. Perform content updates on web platforms.
3. Collaborate with the web developers, graphic designers, and other digital marketing professionals to achieve team goals.
4. Provide design support for and review submissions from the web content managers across campus; optimizing the content in accordance with the University’s web branding guide.
5. Redesign existing apps as needed to meet users’ changing needs.
6. Develop social media content, logos, and other promotional designs as needed.

REQUIREMENTS
Must believe, promote and have a strong commitment to the mission of Franciscan University of Steubenville and possess the following:
Work Experience
• Extensive experience designing engaging and beautiful visual assets across multiple platforms
• 3+ years experience in visual and interactive design
• 1+ years experience in web content editing
• 2+ years experience in web application design

• Effectively blends analysis, experience, and intuition in the decision-making process
• Can facilitate and/or contribute to effective brainstorming

• Consistently checks work for accuracy, appropriateness, and completeness
• Juggle multiple projects while effectively managing timelines and expectations
Education/Credentials:
• The ideal candidate should have a bachelor’s degree in graphic design, fine arts, visual communications, or a related field.
• Must also have experience in web design, digital design, and graphic design. Experience in any of the following areas is a plus:
o Product design
o User experience design
o Prototyping
o Wireframes
o Experience brainstorming with other designers
o Preserving and growing a brand identity
Technical Skills
• Proficiency in the Adobe Creative Cloud Suite with emphasis on InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, XD, or other products like Webflow
• Familiarity with HTML & CSS
Workplace Factors
• Some evening and weekend hours required
• Sits or stands in front of computer for long periods of time
• Works in front of a computer for long periods of time
• Some bending, lifting required, ability to lift 20 lbs.
