Position Overview

As a key member of our front-end web design team, this position will work closely with Team Leaders, Lead Designers and Developers, and Copywriters, to see projects through to their completion. This includes responsibility for creating, designing, and developing high-performance websites using WordPress and Elementor.  The ideal candidate will blend technical WordPress expertise with design creativity, delivering responsive, visually compelling, user-friendly websites  for our purpose-driven clients. This position may also be responsible for the development of website architecture and functionality as needed for each project, the creation of wireframes and mockups, and testing/implementation plans to improve the overall experience, conversion rate, and accessibility of client sites.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Project management, evaluation, and timeline creation.
  • Collaborate with the front-end design team during the concept, wireframing, and content creation portion of the product development process.
  • Site requirements analysis, organization, and sitemap creation.
  • Collaborate with marketing team to ensure websites align with client’s strategic marketing objectives.
  • Develop and maintain website style guides and design systems for consistent brand implementation.
  • Design and develop fully responsive page layouts and interactive elements using Elementor’s full suite of widgets and custom CSS.
  • Optimize website performance, including page speed, mobile responsiveness, and cross-browser compatibility.
  • Implement advanced WordPress customizations, including custom post types, taxonomies, and meta fields.
  • Integrate third-party plugins and develop custom WordPress solutions to meet specific client requirements.
  • Conduct internal review and edits before a website launch, and comprehensive website testing, including functionality, responsiveness, and user-experience across devices.
  • Perform site launch, domain registrations, DNS changes, and technical support.
  • Perform website maintenance, including plug-in updates, security checks, and performance optimization.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, Elementor updates, and emerging web technologies.

Qualifications

  • An understanding that our identity is not found in work, but in the Father by whom we are fearfully and wonderfully made.
  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Graphic Design and/or Web Design is preferred but not necessary if you have the necessary skill sets from professional experience.
  • Minimum 3+ years of professional experience in WordPress development and design.
  • High-level proficiency with Elementor Pro and WordPress page builder tools and knowledge of responsive design principles.
  • Strong understanding of UI/UX design principles.
  • An impressive portfolio demonstrating WordPress and Elementor projects.
  • Proficiency in design tools such as Figma and Adobe Creative Cloud.
  • Ability to translate design concepts into fully functional, user-friendly websites
  • Some knowledge of HTML and CSS.
  • Familiarity with WordPress tools like Gravity Forms, RankMath, WooCommerce, and other popular plugins.
  • Some knowledge of brandscripting and copywriting, and familiarity with SEO best practices for WordPress websites.
  • Experience with website performance optimization techniques
  • Knowledge of web accessibility standards (WCAG)
  • A strong understanding of marketing-driven website design principles.
  • Basic understanding of web hosting and domain management.
  • Experience working in brand systems, adhering to branding guidelines, and executing a brand across various mediums and projects.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to share design best practices and rationale clearly in a way that builds up the relationship with our clients.
  • A well-developed sense of initiative and a strong work ethic with the desire to produce quality results for our clients and team members. 
  • Ability to work from home without distraction and maintain professionalism in appearance and dress.
  • Ability to balance quality, time, and budget to produce the best possible work on every project, and to foresee and identify potential problems and solicit suggestions for improvement.
