About

St. Theresa students have scored in the top 15% of the country for the last 7 years in standardized tests.  90% of our middle school students score in the top 10%.  We compete with all the local prestigious private schools in our Gifted and Talented Program - PSIA.  Our middle school students won last year and this year our school received 2nd place as a whole.  Our students qualify for the Duke University Motivation for Academic Performance Program. 7th grade students participate in the Duke University Talent Identification Program.  St. Theresa’s Catholic School is accredited through the Texas Catholic Conference Education Department under the governance of the Diocese of Austin and the Southern Assoc. of Colleges & Schools Council on Accreditation & School Improvements. Its curriculum meets and exceeds Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) requirements. St. Theresa’s Catholic School is a member of the National Catholic Education Association (NCEA), the Association of Supervision and Curriculum Development, the National Middle School Association, the Texas Computer Education Association, and the Texas Library Connection.

SPIRITUAL LIFE

As a parochial school, St. Theresa’s Catholic School is part of the faith community of St. Theresa Church.   80% of school families are parishioners. Religion is formally taught every day and students attend and actively participate in weekly Mass. As part of the curriculum, 2nd grade students prepare for the sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Eucharist. The students are given the opportunity to go to Confession at least twice during the school year. Additionally, students participate in age-appropriate community service projects.

CURRICULUM

Students are challenged to develop academic and physical skills, pursue knowledge, and critically study and analyze the world in which they live. Fundamental skills are emphasized in all grades. Core subjects include religion, math, language arts, science, and social studies. Elementary students also participate in enrichment classes, including fine arts, Spanish, physical education, library, liturgical music, and technology. Middle school students receive daily foreign language, Spanish or Latin, and a choice of electives. To enhance the curriculum, classes occasionally go on field trips, or outside programs visit the school. Report cards are generated every nine weeks. Interim progress reports are provided to further enhance communication. Parent/teacher conferences are scheduled after the first reporting period; thereafter, upon request. An honor roll is published for the upper grades.
