Celebrating St. Anthony of Padua on June 13.

Saint Anthony of Padua, one of the most beloved saints in the Church, was not only a gifted preacher and miracle-worker, but also a brilliant theologian with a heart for the poor. Born in Portugal and eventually joining the Franciscan order, he originally sought martyrdom in Morocco, but divine providence led him instead to Italy, where his gifts blossomed. Known as the “Hammer of Heretics,” his eloquent words drew crowds and converted hearts, but he always returned to the simplicity and humility of his Franciscan roots.

For Catholic professionals today, Saint Anthony stands as a reminder that our talents—whether intellectual, relational, or creative—are not for self-promotion, but for mission. He used his learning not to dominate, but to serve and build up the Body of Christ, particularly among those who were spiritually hungry and materially poor.

His deep love for Scripture and the Eucharist speaks directly to those striving for faithfulness in the demands of daily work. In high-stress environments, Anthony’s life invites us to cultivate a spirit of gentleness, clarity, and mercy. His legacy also encourages us to be attentive to the small things—whether lost items or lost people—and to be instruments of restoration wherever we go.

Let Saint Anthony teach you to speak truth with beauty, lead with wisdom, and pursue excellence not for applause, but for the glory of God.
