Celebrating St. Henry II, Emperor on July 15.
St. Henry II (972–1024) was crowned Holy Roman Emperor and is the only German king to be canonized a saint. His reign was marked by good governance, concern for the Church, and a deep interior life. Unlike many rulers of his time, Henry didn’t see power as a personal prize—but as a trust given by God.
He supported monastic reform, built churches, and worked to strengthen Christian life in his empire. Yet he remained grounded. Though married to St. Cunegunda, the couple lived a life of deep virtue, mutual respect, and, by some traditions, celibate devotion.
What makes Henry II especially relevant for professionals today is how he combined strong leadership with prayer. He made decisions not just for short-term success but with heaven in mind. He showed that faith isn’t a retreat from responsibility—it’s the compass for doing it well.
